How do I use course-wide settings?
Learn about Derivita settings that will apply to every assignment in your course.
Opening the course settings page
- Go to any Derivita assignment in your course
- In the top right, click the three dots and choose Course Settings:

General Settings
Help email
The email address here determines:
- Where students' messages will go when they ask for help
- Which teacher the course is assigned to, for the purposes of Derivita Analytics
It will be set automatically, but you can change it here, if needed.

Time Overrides
If a student needs more time on tests, you can add a time limit multiplier that will be applied to every assignment they work on that has a time limit.

Allow student retake requests
You can turn this on to let students ask for another try on quizzes and exams. That way, you can quickly let them back in from the Exam Lobby, without needing to open the specific quiz or exam.

Late Policy
Here, you can choose how much to penalize work done late, if at all.

Reporting Options (for certain customers)
At some districts, teachers see a place to enter info: the school, subject, and term of their course.
This helps data get added up correctly for Derivita Analytics.
Sync All Grades
You won't usually need to use this. It can be helpful if you need to sync all the grades one last time before final grades are due.
We don't recommend syncing all grades while the course is ongoing, since it will send grades for assignments that students are still working on and may therefore lower their grades in the course.
