How to add the course dashboard to your Canvas course

If you use Canvas, you can add Derivita to the course navigation to quickly jump to common actions.

What is the course dashboard?

Teachers can use the Derivita course dashboard to quickly start a SpotCheck, let students into assessments, view Analytics, and choose settings for the course:The Derivita course dashboard in Canvas

How to add the course dashboard

  1. In your Canvas course, go to Settings > Navigation
  2. Scroll to the bottom to find Derivita
  3. Click and drag to place Derivita where you’d like it
  4. At the bottom-right, click Save

If Derivita doesn't appear in the list of options, your Canvas admin hasn't enabled it yet. They can reach out to Derivita to get it set up. It takes about 10 minutes.
